Delhi High Alert: National Capital Under High Security Cover for 68th Republic Day
The national capital will be under heavy security till Thursday, 26th January, 2017 evening for 68th Republic Day celebrations.
Today, 23rd January, 2017, the full dress rehearsal for the 68th Republic Day 2017 parade is performed and many roads will be closed till 12.30 PM.
The entire Central and the national capital New Delhi region will have nearly 50,000 security personnel drawn from Delhi Police and central security forces guarding every nook and corner.
According to reports, the traffic police and other officers on security duty have been asked to keep an eye on movements of heavy vehicles due to terror threats. Restriction on the entry of heavy vehicles would also be imposed.
Mukesh Meena said that, we have requested people who have installed CCTVs at their shops and houses to keep them in good condition. We have also installed cameras along the parade route to monitor movements.
On Wednesday, 25th January, 2017, New Delhi borders will be sealed and all cars entering the national capital will be checked thoroughly.
CCTV cameras have been installed and eight control rooms have been set up to monitor the feed from the cameras.
More than 60,000 security men, including Delhi Police, CAPFs and NSG commandos, would be deployed from yesterday, 22nd January, 2017 night.
The New Delhi Police SWAT commandos would also be stationed on the parade route till Red Fort to scan for any suspicious movements. And also Indian Army has positioned quick reaction teams (QRTs) across Delhi to respond to emergencies.
A police team has been trained by Indian Air Force to track and spot unidentified flying objects and alert IAF personnel who would be deployed with air defence arms.
