Jeep Compass Could Lunch in India Likely by June 2017
An insider source from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) India has revealed that the Jeep Compass was globally unveiled in the latter half of 2016, is likely to make its India debut by June 2017. Since the compass will be the first Jeep product that will be manufactured in India. Its price list is expected to hover around the Rs. 18-20 lakh.
Jeep is an iconic American carmaker that has excelled in developing rough utility vehicles since the early 1940s. In 2016, Jeep Compass entered in India with three of its most familiar models such as Grand Cherokee, Wrangler Unlimited and Grand Cherokee SRT.
Once the Jeep Compass is launched in India, the Ranjangaon plant will become one of the four manufacturing hubs in the world where this SUV will be manufactured. The four hubs such as China, Brazil, Mexico and India will produce the Compass for 100-plus countries globally.
The Jeep Compass will come with an array of 17 power trains combinations to serve different markets around the world. While customers in India will have an option of petrol or a diesel power plant and both the engines will have manual and automatic transmissions.
The petrol-powered mill is likely to be a 1.4-litre Multi Air Turbo unit and the diesel powered mill is expected to be a 2.0-litre Multijet II turbo motor. Additionally, Jeep is likely to offer the Compass with only all-wheel drive power trains, although the AWD system offered may vary from variant to variant. Once Jeep Compass launched then it will lock horns with the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and the Skoda Yeti.
